• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

"Hmm, upgrades!"

Sounds familiar? Well, according to Avsim.com also our beloved sim of choice is about to get a work-over! More info at Avsim.com!

I hope they added more possibilities for us, scenerydesigners, but don't expect it. According to the article there is improvement in performance. We as scenerydesigners should have more room to create more complicated objects and scenery. I hope it is true. (We can make more compilicated scenery and bring the fps back to what it is now :D )

I hope too, that MS will update some things, that either do not work properly or they have changed since FS2002. But I don't think, this will happen. Maybe You do remember:
- VTP layers
- a little (1 pixel) move of LWM polygons (look at lakes in FS2002 and FS2004)
- landing light only as effect
...
I don't remember more ;)
But maybe we could start making a wish list for next FS? :D

That wouldn't be such a bad idea I would say. It might be usefull to collect our scenery design wishes now, so we can submit them to MS and hopefully they can then do something with it for the next version.

I think I will start a new thread (or a separate forum) for this.

Nice to meet you

Hi everyone. My first post here so I'm a bit nervous. MS updating FS2K4 ? Great, but there are two things that really need to be fixed for scenery designers :

1 . Not having to reboot FS each time we want to apply new settings such as scenery installation through the librairy or Afcad modifications and...
2. Better (and faster) delivery of SDK, as I believe they should be made available as soon as the sim appears on the shelves. Also, they may be written in a more simpler way. I've been fighting with the Approach Legs concept as described in the Scenery SDK and still look forward to see any AI aircraft being directed properly by ATC...

Thanks to people like Arno for making the Sim a better Sim.

This are two nice suggestions of course, but a patch is to correct critical bugs, while you are asking for new features :). So I wouldn't expect this kind of features in the patch.

Correcting errors...

Hi Arno !

Yes, you're right. And we all know there are many errors to correct. Especially World Time Zones and ATC areas. Flying around Africa (my main activity) is not realistic but sometimes, in European skies, ATC soon becomes a nightmare with controller changeover happening virtually every minute. I appreciate the fact that MS will release a better New York scenery but I think they should concentrate more on providing a quality framework to scenery designers and users. We already have some good NY scenery around. Anyway a patch will mostly be appreciated especially if it addresses memory usage and frame rates issues.

Cheers !

I have made a new forum where you can submit suggestions for future version of Flight Simulator. Please have a look at it here. Before making any posts, please also read the sticky thread with the instructions, so we can keep that forum clean.

...also the statement in this topic in the Avsim forum is very interesting! Anyone who can confirm this?

I also noticed, or rather came to think of, that MS is re-working the graphics engine in the upcoming Windows version (yes, Longhorn). The new way to handle graphics is named WinFX. My guess is that MS is prolonging the life of FS2004 with this patch, and then releases FS10, with a brand new graphics engine, after the release of the next Windows - sometime before christmas 2006?

This is just speculations, ofcourse!
