• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Okay so this is still in the realms of dreams, but I'm sure this is what is coming in the coming years... I had imagined something like it, and it looks like my predictions will one day come true...

I have imagined the day that FS becomes server based for scenery, where when you fly in FS images and terrain are downloaded to your computer in close to real time. Of course bandwidth is still small right now, and processors still too slow... But I imagine that one day FS will look something similar to this...

This is from http://www.skylinesoft.com/corporate/corporate_home.asp and is a tool available to developers, military etc etc...

They have a free software viewer and you can take 3D tours through several cities around the USA and some places internationally...

Here's a screenshot of Las Vegas I took... The terrain is a little exaggerated and the satellite photos they used for Las Vegas are pre-2000... But one day we will have the whole earth mapped like this...

Wow - a bit blue - but the detail is great !
I saw another company some weeks ago, that have
complete cities with all buildings NY, SF etc - but i dont
remember the homepage now.

Since some standard pc´s have 1 terabyte now and the
64-bit version of Windows will be out soon - i guess we
will all see this detail some day ... :D

When i remember my first ibm-pc and Bruce Artwicks FS 1.0
on floppy disk 5'' - muhahahaha :D

Young people would think it was tetris on the screen ...

This is an interesting link that shows what is already available 'at a cost'. This is more for the actual realism as far as aircraft and environment are concerned, but add it to those terrain graphics and try and imagine!
