• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSPlanner request

I just downloaded this and installed it. It seems to be a good step forward as a AFCAD tool for FSX. I'm trying to contact the author to request that a connection be made between this program and FSX so that taxiways and aprons can be drawn correctly.
Also .... this sorely needs a tutoural to be able to do taxiways. When I made one it promply crashed FSX.
The ReadMe has no information on the author or anything about it except the changes and advances to the program.
I have read the SDK for FSX and that was no help.
Thanks
Joe W.

Thats great..!!
You wouldn't happen to know the sequence to placing parks and taxiways in with that, would you? Everytime I try it crashes. I have done that using Scruffy's Design engine but it's a pain...
Edit: Also I would like for the program to remember the folder that I save to and compile to.
Thanks

Hi Joe,

Once the app gets to its final release then there will be a full manual included. But, as was said above, right now it is still in beta so no manual yet.

To answer your questions:
1) There will be a connection between FSX and FSX Planner.

2) To make a taxiway you select the taxiway tool (which looks like a small bar-bell). Then you click where you want to taxiway to start, and then move the mouse to where you want it to end, and click again. As you are moving the mouse existing taxiway points will be highlighted when you move over them. If the start or end location is not on an existing taxiway point, then one will be created for you.

After creating the taxiway you will need to specify the attributes of the taxiway, such as width, surface type, etc.

Any taxiway drawn between a taxiway point and a parking location is automatically created as a 'Parking' type taxiway.

That is a brief description of how to create a taxiway. If you are having problems, just ask, and I'll hopefully be able to help you solve them.

Thanks!

I made a mistake in the instructions above! You actually click and hold the mouse down where you want to start the taxiway and then drag the mouse to where you want to end the taxiway and release the mouse. Sorry - very emabrrasing that!

No need.... I had about figgured that out. I had already looked at one I did with Scruffy's engine and had fixed the path. This is shaping up to be a great program. It's very simular to AFCAD in a lot of ways. I may ask a really dumb question later... then find that I had answered the question myself.
Thanks for letting me help with this.

I appreciate the help! I hope this will be a very useful program that a lot of people will find very helpful. :)

Hi rf360m (Sorry- unsure of your real name)
Ive been following this project with great interest- Thanks heaps for doing this for the community

I havent downloaded the program yet so forgive me if the following question is stupid.
As i understand it, FSXplanner doesnt yet have the capability to digitise off a geo-referenced aerial photo right?

Currently, is there a way to accurately create/place the runways/taxiways etc so that they line up with an aerial photo (i.e. A work around until the ability to add a reference photo is added?)- Would it just be a case of using TmfViewer to some reference coordinates and then go from there?

The screen shots of FSXplanner ive seen so far havent been in reference to an actual aerial photo- Id imagine that if you were placing an aiport over a 'default/generic background then accurate placement wouldnt be too much of a problem but when using an aerial photo bgl, the requirement for exact placement becomes more of an issue...

Dont worry about writing out the method, just a 'yes its possible' or 'not really' will be fine at this stage..

The airport im working on is placed incorrectly by default and i want to place the taxiways/runways exactly over a highres aerial photo.

Cheers

Right now it doesn't have the ability to use a photo as a reference background.

However if you know the lat/lon coordinates of the taxiways, etc - by using Google Earth or something similar - then you can create the various taxiways, etc, and use those lat/lon coordinates to accurately place the items. It's a bit more time consuming, but will still work well.
