Good afternoon , I convert default FSX aircraft to MSFS2020 and for the most part the aircraft are good , except I receive requests to remove the White Box that covers where the N=number would be . I have tried using ModelConverterX , however the MDL will not export back . any advice would be great . I have attached snip shots . Thanks

In your last image click, the highlight selected box at the top left, and the polygon in question will be highlighted in red.

Then go to the hierarchy, editor, click on the parts until you find that polygon (again, click the highlight selected box), And click remove.

Do this with the original FSX model, and then convert to MS 2020 again.

Thanks for assistance I was able to remove the box , although same issue when exporting back , it does not save 'new' MDL back to my computer/files . I noticed a message at bottom but I am under the Microsoft agreement for FSX/MSFS2020 conversion of default aircraft (don't think that is it) I'm doing something wrong with the pathways back . I have to keep trying . Your instructions worked as you can see the box is gone . Thanks again

What is the error you get when you try to export? I don't see it in the screenshot.

Hello There was a red statement at bottom restricted animation . The last attempt I made went ok or 'exported' back the B737-800mdl . But the white box is still showing and it seems the file is not updated or modified when exported back , no error messages just did not change anything . Once I isolated box with hierarchy / material edit and removed it , did not see a save button and at the bottom it said finished and no error messages . Thanks

You would have to export the model back to an MDL file with the export button at the top after you have removed the decal polygon.

The animation export restriction only applies to exporting to glTF and not to MDL.

Arno , You have mentioned something that I think may be the problem ,after I verify the polygons have been removed - I follow the export steps , the exported 'new' file goes back to original import FSX model folder , it then tells me the file already exists -do you want to replace it ? I click yes and the new file does not replace it , I've tried creating new folder etc . but MDL does not export anywhere except to where the old one is , It's like I need to save new MDL to desktop and then transfer/replace back to FSX model folder . Thanks

You probably have your sim installed in a protected folder, and windows is not allowing you to compile to anywhere but the desktop. Several people have that problem.

Arno , Not able to save the file back with MCX with export , prepare3D SDK . There are other 737fsx conversions that do not have the white box , but unknown how they are modified . I have watched tutorials (many) ?

Thanks

I think you are missing DirectX 9.0c on your machine, XtoMdl needs that specific version.

Arno , Thanks I loaded directX9.0c and the export went through with no errors , but now after converting again there are no textures and it seems Iike the old model keeps showing in sim even though I deleted it and CVT files . I does look like the white box is gone , there is a shadow texture showing . This is snip shot of new conversion

Thanks

Seems a step closer. Could it be you modified the texture names by accident so that the textures do not load anymore?

I don't think so , but I finished the conversion and the aircraft fly's really good , has the NEO cockpit . Textures are still white , I'll keep checking textures and cfg. files

Arno , I finally got it , white box no longer shows and file size is good , thanks again for the support . Thanks for solving this issue for me talk to you soon , all credits to you and FS Developer.com team

Thanks
