• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX FSX Entering Slew when Object Placment Tool is Opened.

I am trying to create some missions for FSX and when I open the object placement tool window, FSX enters slew mode, and then stops slewing when I exit the object placement tool.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening and how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

"That's not a bug it's a feature."

This is done on purpose as it is simply much easier to place objects while slewing (Slew to the position, slew around to check if it's placed correctly...)
I agree with the FSX developers so far.

I don't think it can be changed.
What about the endless, unstoppable turning to the left? Slew on opening seems a good idea, but nothing stops the spinning. the numeric pad #5 does not stop it, but writes a lot of 5s in the field where the cursor is placed. This refers to FSX only, no Acceleration.
Any clue?
Hi Folks

Sounds like your joystick requires calibrating.

With FSX shut down,
in your OS -> Control Panel -> Game Controllers
calibrate & save

You might have to also repeat the calibration from within FSX.
FSX menu -> Settings -> Controls -> Calibration tab -> click Calibrate

Hi Paul, Thanks for taking the trouble. I did find the "solution" yesterday, totally unexpected and certainly very common: the turn right and turn left slew actions (keyboard numerical keys 1 and 3) were mapped to the X-axis, that of the propeller pitch. You were actually quite close :) So many hours of frustration! But thank you so much. This has now allowed me to start placing objects with OPT. Happy hours ahead. Best.
NB: I think you suggested using a joystick just for the slew operations. Very smart.
