• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Planner build 12 available (May 22nd)

Hi all,

A new release, build 12, or FSX Planner is now available. You can download it here: http://www.zbluesoftware.com/clients/FSXPlanner.zip

Here is the list of what has changed:

* The Taxiway Sign properties display now also shows the taxiway sign as it would appear within flight simulator. This makes it much easier to decode the cryptic label system used by flight simulator.

* The Taxiway Sign Wizard has been implemented. This wizard is accessible by clicking the 'wizard' button next to the taxiway sign label in the Taxiway Sign Properties display. It is a graphical tool to help you create Taxiway Signs without having to keep looking up all the various characters used within a taxiway sign label.

* Implemented the Move Airport feature (Edit -> Move Airport). This allows you to enter new latitude/longitude coordinates for the center of the airport and then have the entire airport moved to corrispond to that new center location.

* The Open Recent File option has now been implemented. This remembers the last 10 files opened.

* A 'View' menu has been added. This lists all the currently opened airports. Selecting that airport name from this menu will make sure that airport is displayed in front of all other airports. This is intended to make it easier when working with multiple airports simultaneously.

* The file chooser displayed when selecting the Open Airport XML option now defaults to the directory of the last opened airport xml file.

* The File -> Close Airport option has been implemented.

* The color used to draw the taxiway lines can now be changed using the preferences dialog.

* Aprons and Runways are now dragged based upon the point where you first click on them, rather than their center point.

* Fixed a bug that caused some taxiway signs to be orientated incorrectly by 180 degrees.

* A bug that prevented the Find Aiport feature from finding airports if you did not enter the ICAO code in upper case has been fixed.

* Fixed a bug that caused some taxiway lines not to be drawn correctly when connecting two parallel taxiways of different widths.

I think I can see the end of the tunnel! :)

A couple of things questions:
What OS are you using?
Does that path exist?

Looking good mate

Looking good mate

For Dual Monitor users something similar to the attachment would be great.

My Os is Windows vista and the path i set is where the bgl sdk at

That's the destination folder, correct? If so then the problem is Vista's new security systems. In Vista after an application is installed, it is not allowed to write a file to the Program Files directory. The solution would be to use a different directory, such as your user documents directory as the destination folder.

Love the taxisign wizard, that alone will make it a must download.

Tried the Edit\Move and was unable to get new coordinates to take effect. The field is at N21 18.4412 W158 04.2182, but the move box will show it as S longitude, with a trailing format. Since none of the XML is changed here it will compile without any problems.

Thanks again for all your efforts!

Glad you like the taxiway sign wizard - it's my favorite feature right now too!

I'm not totally sure what the problem you are having with the move airport feature. Can you show a screen shot of what it shows?

Thanks Russell, I just hope it's not the dreaded "user error"!

Pic 1 with opened airport, from XML code decompiled by Jon's BGL2XML. Pic 2 shows the Move dialog, note the trailing N and S. Pic 3 is with the new data. Pic 4 is after pressing the Move Airport button and closing the dialog box shown in Pic 5. Comparing the saved code after compiling the BGL shows no Lat/Lon data had been changed in the file.

What have I done wrong here? And I have the XML and full size pics I can send or post up to the web.

Ah, I have figured out the problem! It's not user error. We haven't programmed the lat/lon parser to recognize any format other than 42.12345678 formats, even though it can display as 42.35N, etc. So when you try to change the lat/lon to a new coordinate the app was not able to parse it and therefore kept the original lat/lon coordinate. We'll fix that for the next release.
