FSX terrain under photoreal problem

#1
Hi everyone,

I'm doing a photoreal scenery with SBuilderX v.313, but there are some problems.

The first is that under my photoreal there is the FSX default island.
1.png

The second is that I added polygons to do some montains in this island but this doesn't work well.
2.png

You can see there that I done more montains in SBuilder
3.png

The last problem is that I added the GUID Exclude_All_Terrain_Items but in FSX appears this:
4.png

I used for the montains AB_Flatten and for the terrain under the island photoreal I used Exclude_All_Terrain_Items.
If some can help me because I tryed to surf in internet but I didn't find anything.

Best Regards,,
Matteo

Hi Matteo:

First, I would recommend that you instead use the newest SBuilderX version 3.15:

https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/sbuilderx-v315.441705/

NOTE: For use of SBuilderX with Windows-10, it is now recommended that you perform a new install of SBuilderX version 3.15 which is kept entirely separate from any existing SBuilderX version 3.13 or 3.14 installation:

https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/sbuilderx-v315.441705/

I have made a full zipped version of the program, with all folders filled for immediate use without a previous installation of version 3.14:

Full SbuilderX v315

1.) If desired, ZIP any existing *.SBP project and/or *.SBX exchange format data files and save to a different 'backup' folder

2.) Place the SBX315.zip file (cited above) within the root of ex: drive D:\

3.) Use ex: WinRAR free demo version to extract (de-archive) that ZIP file with all its nested sub-folder intact

https://www.win-rar.com/download.html?&L=0

NOTE: Be certain that WinRAR is set to "Extract Relative Paths" to preserve folder structure when un-ZIP-ing. :pushpin:

You should end up with a ready-to-use install of SBuilderX version 3.15 containing all required folders and files.

4.) Browse to ex: D:\SBX315\SBuilderX.exe

a.) Right-click > choose Create Shortcut

b.) Within the D:\SBX315\SBuilderX folder, Right-click the new 'Shortcut' to SBuilderX.exe (the one with a small arrow on it)

(1) From the Right-click pop-up context menu, choose 'Properties'

(2) In the 'Properties' dialog, choose the {Compatibility} tab

(3) On the 'Properties' dialog {Compatibility} tab, Left-click [Change settings for all users] button

(4) In 'Properties' {Compatibility} tab [Change settings for all users] dialog, check 'Run this program as an administrator'

(5) Left-click [OK] button]

(6) Back on the 'Properties' dialog {Compatibility} tab, Left-click [OK] button]

c.) Within the D:\SBX315\SBuilderX folder, double-Left-click the new 'Shortcut' to SBuilderX.exe (it has a small 'arrow' on it)

d.) You should now be able to run SBuilderX version 3.15 as an Administrator without file / folder path permission errors

The resulting imagery compiled by SDK Resample must be at least ZOOM level 15 or at least LOD-13 to be displayed by FS.

BTW: When editing copies of downloaded source imagery files, do not change the total number of pixel Columns and/or Rows.

NOTE: When making scenery for FSX and/or P3D, one must "Exclude and Replace" scenery in lower layers of FS' scenery library.

Also, we can use 'Excludes' to cut a hole in custom scenery to allow the underlying terrain mesh to show through to the top.

Hi Matteo:

I have looked at the project, and will post more detailed recommendations for you over the weekend. :)

[EDITED]

In the mean time, to take your progress a bit farther, examine the 2 adjacent local default QMID-11 sized default "Hydro" Water Class and "Water Poly" (flatten) polygons in:

[Flight Simulator X install path]\Scenery\0503\scenery\cvx4126.bgl

These 2 adjacent local default QMID-11 sized polygons can be viewed- and their vector attributes identified- in:

[Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK install path]\SDK\Environment Kit\Terrain SDK\TMFViewer.exe

...or:

[Lockheed Martin Prepar3D SDK 1.4.4747.0 install path]\Environment Kit\Terrain SDK\TMFViewer.exe

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/microsoft-esp/cc707102(v=msdn.10)#the-tmfviewer-tool

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/microsoft-esp/cc526968(v=msdn.10)

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/microsoft-esp/cc707102(v=msdn.10)#the-terrain-system

One must use SBuilderX to 'Exclude and Replace' these LOD-11 sized "Hydro" Water Class and "Water Poly" (flatten) polygons, leaving a 'hole' for the island at their adjacent edges to allow your custom scenery and any underlying local terrain mesh ...to show through to the top of default and custom CVX vector polygons.

Display of this CVX vector scenery content is enabled when used with a Blend Mask and Land-Water Mask at the time your custom photo-real imagery BGL is compiled by SDK Resample via the *.INF file output by SBuilderX.

[END_EDIT]

BTW: You should use ex: ESRI ArcGIS World Imagery tiles at Zoom level 15 (LOD-13) or greater, so they can be seen in FS on top of local default land class terrain textures.

FYI: Rather than attempting to create your own custom CVX vector "sloped flatten" terrain BGL from contour data points and poly-lines, you instead can utilize a 'ready-to-use', free to download, SRTM elevation raster-derived, 1-Arc Second resolution (38.2 Meter / LOD-10 SDK Resample output) terrain mesh BGL for Cabo Verde here:

FreeMeshX

http://ninetwopro.com/freemeshx/

http://ninetwopro.com/freemeshx/bit-torrent-download-links/

Use u-Torrent as a peer-to-peer Torrent download application, to pick only the files you want for your local project Geographic coverage area from the big FreeMeshX "Global" torrent file.
