• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

FSX terrain under photoreal problem

Hi everyone,

I'm doing a photoreal scenery with SBuilderX v.313, but there are some problems.

The first is that under my photoreal there is the FSX default island.

The second is that I added polygons to do some montains in this island but this doesn't work well.

You can see there that I done more montains in SBuilder

The last problem is that I added the GUID Exclude_All_Terrain_Items but in FSX appears this:

I used for the montains AB_Flatten and for the terrain under the island photoreal I used Exclude_All_Terrain_Items.
If some can help me because I tryed to surf in internet but I didn't find anything.

Also, we can use 'Excludes' to cut a hole in custom scenery to allow the underlying terrain mesh to show through to the top.

One must use SBuilderX to 'Exclude and Replace' these LOD-11 sized "Hydro" Water Class and "Water Poly" (flatten) polygons, leaving a 'hole' for the island at their adjacent edges to allow your custom scenery and any underlying local terrain mesh ...to show through to the top of default and custom CVX vector polygons.

Display of this CVX vector scenery content is enabled when used with a Blend Mask and Land-Water Mask at the time your custom photo-real imagery BGL is compiled by SDK Resample via the *.INF file output by SBuilderX.

BTW: You should use ex: ESRI ArcGIS World Imagery tiles at Zoom level 15 (LOD-13) or greater, so they can be seen in FS on top of local default land class terrain textures.


FYI: Rather than attempting to create your own custom CVX vector "sloped flatten" terrain BGL from contour data points and poly-lines, you instead can utilize a 'ready-to-use', free to download, SRTM elevation raster-derived, 1-Arc Second resolution (38.2 Meter / LOD-10 SDK Resample output) terrain mesh BGL for Cabo Verde here:
