• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I can't believe I'm asking this but..

I have been away from modeling for about 6-9 months and I absolutely cannot remember something extremely simple.

I get no context menu when right clicking on a label in a viewport and when I mouse over a label in an inactive viewport, I get that little icon that looks like a key.

How do I get this back? I've looked in the help file and have been searching this forum for about half an hour.

Sorry for my failing memory.

-Michael.

Gmax

I am not all that familiar with gmax but am fooling around with it.

Have you tried Customise from the top menu>Customize User Interface and tghere is an option to Load/Save/Reset at the bottom right hand corner.

Hope that helps - if not, sorry!

Gmax has to be THE WORST program ever - Blender comes close but atleast its frreeware and is the full version!

I did look at the Customize UI options but nothing in there changes this behavior. I've found that it's not just the viewport labels that don't respond, but right clicking on your object doesn't work either.. no context menus for either action. It's like GMax has just stopped responding to right mouse clicks.

but that little "key" icon when you mouse over a label in a non-active viewport bugs me. I can't remember what that means.

I've installed/uninstalled a lot of stuff since I last worked with Gmax and something may be corrupted. It's running a bit slow as well (taking a long time to respond to key commands).

I think I'll just try reinstalling it tomorrow.

Thanks.

Michael, I've had that happen twice in the past six years. In both cases though, rebooting the computer "solved" the problem.

In reality though, I suspect I simply had too many applications open at once, and the computer's memory was horribly fragmented, and the "virtual memory" in the swap file was overextended...

Key Icon

Key Icon is for Animation, according to online help. It's toggle switch button at bottom right corner menu.

Sorry I cant be much help!

I'll be damned if that didn't do the trick. Problem solved. Jees..Advice I've given to many people, many times, for many problems.

Thanks Bill.

..and thanks Max.. at least I know what the "key" is now and can turn it off.
