• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi!
I have a, maybe, big problem!

There are few days that i'm reading forums all over the world and i can't find a solution...

These is my problem: I have a 3d area drowed in sketchup, near an airport, with some wind generators on the near mountain.
How can I place it in flight simulator? I've tryed to make a collada file then a lot of software but i never reach any result...

Any idea how to do it?

Thank's a lot and sorry for my poor english

Hi,

Using my ModelConverterX tool you can convert the COLLADA DAE file into a MDL object that you can use within FS. Afterwards you can then place this object into FS with any of the object placement tools available.

Thank's Arno for the answer.

With a lot of trouble, i've removed the ground from google earth in sketchup and i left there only the 3d eolic generator.

Now i have an MDL file (i hope that is not corrupted) but how put it in fsx? The sketcup file was georeferenciated, do you think that coordinates are allready inside the mdl?

Thanks for your answer,
Mike

Hi Mike,

you can place the object like any other object you created with Gmax or FSDS. Put the MDL file in a library e.g. take the Library Creator you find in the download-section of fsdeveloper. Take care, that you choose the correct version for FSX or FS2004.

Place the object in the sim with one of several placement-programs available e.g. the Object Placer also available here in the download-section.

Hi Mike,

No, geo referencing is not within the MDL files. You will have to specify that while placing the object. This can be done with BGLComp XML code or any of the object placement tools. Which FS version are you working with?

Just get the latest version it works with FS2004 and FSX. I would not advice using the old version anymore.

I tried using the "old version" and had nothing but problems. Then I remembered that I hadn't checked lately and got the newest version...

Problem(s) solved! Thanks for a terrific tool...
