• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Are you sure that the entire area is flattened? Also the reference point of the ground polygons?

And did you enter the right altitude in the GPW for the ground polygon curve.

It should not be set to zero. The altitude should be the same as the altitude of your airport! This has been explained dozens of times already.
How and what did you export and with what tool? The Ground Polygon Wizard (GPW)? Or the 'Convert and Place Wizard? Or you just exported it as an object or a scenery?

If Im using the GPW with the height of my airport the GPW places my GP at 648.004 above my actual airport=>twice the height of my airport.

Are you using meters (or feet) in both the GPW and the airport elevation?

What do you mean with twice the height? You need to enter the exact height in meters in the wizard. Anything else will result in a wrong calculation of the curve of the earth.

When Im entering the absolute alt as req my GP is lifted to the height of the ground from sea level.
in this case my scenery is 648.004 ASL.
what I meant is that when I enter 648.004m in the GWP it raises the GP to 1296.008 ASL.

That's impossible. Do you only use the GPW to make the ground polygons or do you do something else afterwards?

And you import from mdl file or from DAE?

I just double checked, but if I convert a DAE file with the GPW and alter an altitude in the wizard, the resulting BGL file has the polygons nicely at ground level. Nothing is floating.

If you load your BGL file back into MCX are the polygons floating already in the preview or is it that the placement has an altitude for you (you can check that in the placement editor).

Can we stick with the original problem first and try to fix that?

So what information do you see in the placement editor? Maybe you can post a screenshot of that form.
