• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

A caution to all:

Ground2K4 v6.35 is a pirated version of Christian Fumey's work, and was available at AVSIM. This is not authorised by Christian.

Basically, the program code was stolen. This version does not work right, and I would suspect there may be other reasons it's originator may have for it's release ( spyware? or virus ? ).

Please DO NOT DOWNLOAD this program or install it on your computer! If you have done so already, please use a virus and spyware detection program to search your system for these problems.

Dick

Bloody Hell!

I do hate people that do this kind of thing... I hope they are tracked down.

Hi all.

The bad version has been removed from AVSIM's Library, and the perpetrator warned. Christian seemed more baffled than angry.

Months ago, Christian and this man had corresponded, and the fellow suggested he look at the source code to help Christian redesign the program for a better look-and-feel.

That collaboration went nowhere, and Christian has not heard about him in months. Until this weekend.

Hopefully, that strange chapter in scenery design has ended.

No virii or spyware found.

Dick

Very strange. Thanks for posting this anyway. I moved it to the News forum so that more people will see it.

"and the perpetrator warned"

Very odd altogether... Maybe the dude thought it was open source or something?

Well, After seeing this thread, I checked the version here and removed it.

The problem is that the DL file name is:
ground2k4_v6.zip
There is no documentation in the zip for the version number and the only way that I discovered that I had Ground2K4 v6.35 is by actually starting the program. It states the version across the header of the window.
I even looked in the Win. Explorer at the version and it did not read version 6.35.

There were some iffy looking DLLs and I think that I goot them all. ALso did a virus scan which came up empty.

Do you mean this version is still available for download? I thought it had been removed a few weeks ago already.

No, I mean that I Dlded from Avsim "ground2k4_v6.zip" on Mar. 4th and didn't install it for a few days. I haven't used it all that much. I tried ot out once asa test and then deleted the bgl that it created but when I saw this thread, I checked outthe version.
I usually look for the version # by right clicking on the *.exe file in Win. Explorer but I don't think that the version # matched in that info. with the bad upload's version number. Then, when I ran the program the version # 6.35 read clearly across the top of the window. It was uninstalled. THe only issue was that when you run the windows uninstaller it prompts when it comes to a few DLL files and says that they might be used for other programs. That's where I'm not an expert.
The DLl files included with this version were:

ASYCFILT.DLL
ChilkatMail.dll
ChilkatUtil.dll
COMCAT.DLL
dao360.dll
expsrv.dll
msjet40.dll
msjint40.dll
msjter40.dll
msjtes40.dll
msrd2x40.dll
msrd3x40.dll
msrepl40.dll
MSVBVM60.DLL
mswdat10.dll
mswstr10.dll
OLEAUT32.DLL
OLEPRO32.DLL
RICHED32.DLL
VB5DB.DLL
VB6STKIT.DLL
vbajet32.dll

the ones that bothered my gut instinct were:
ChilkatMail.dll
ChilkatUtil.dll
dao360.dll <this one still in my windows\system32 folder which has something to do with an MS. object library.
is there a way easily to tell if these dlls are actually used by other programs or whether any DLLS were added to this "newer version" of Ground2K by that bad programming?
Thanks:)
