• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

MSFS Help a newbie texture his first landmark work in MSFS

(skip this to get right into the problem) Greetings everyone, when MSFS released I got quite interested in adding some missing landmarks to make the astonishing scenery look even better, I decided to start with Morocco, since it's the last country I visited, its famous by a big mosque in casablanca.

I found a royalty free sketchup design, I bought the pro license for sketchup and exported the file in an .obj format and it came along with a .mtl format and a folder with some pictures used for texturing. I load up the design in blender and it's texture less and just coloured, but when I go to texture paint, the textures are there and it's looking awesome, so when I go into objects and set it to MSFS standard, I don't know what albedo file to choose since I don't have a texture map, and each section of the design is separate and whatever I load into the albedo file nothing happens to that specific section! I'm a newbie any help will be appreciated thank you!

Can you share the files, I'm no expert but may be able to get you pointed in the right direction. Zip and upload the .blend file along with the folder with the textures and I'll take a look for you.

The textures have to be in .PNG, or (unadvisable) .JPG format for the exporter to work. It's a limitation of the Khronos glTF exporter we're using. I'm not familiar with .mtl, so no clue what comes with that. But in order for this to work, you need to have proper textures.
