• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hey guys,

i have installed Model Coverter X but i can not find the scasm macro files in FSX and also i cannot import my MDL files as i get a error message.

Any ideas?

Thanks

James

You need to give us more details. What does the error message say? What kind of MDL file is this (aircraft, scenery, FS9, FSX, etc.)?

Hi,

It is a FSX Aircraft MDL, I click on Import, then a pop up box appears for me to select the file i want to import, but i can never find any macros in my airplane folders under simobjects in fsx, so i go into the model folder of the aircraft i want to work on and select the Flight Simulator MDL object option where it says files of type in the dialogue box and then i click on the model MDL of that aircraft.

One thing i just realised then aswell is that it works with certain aircraft. However for the aircraft it doesn't work with the error message is Time-ZZZZ, Sender- MDL Reader, Message- The file ---------.mdl is of a non-supported MDL format, Level-Error

Hope this makes sense?

Thanks
James

Hi,

That probably means that MDL file is not a true FSX MDL file, but is apparently one created for FS2004 or even earlier sim.

Hope this helps,

Hi James,

Which version did you install? I think you use version 1.2 now. If you get the latest development release it can read more types of MDL files.

Also in the downloads section, see this thread for details.
