• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Help with AI and FSX

I am pulling my hair out here and I have reviewed many forums to find a fix for my problem

I have FSX, designed an airport with ADE, a simple one runway aiport to test my skills/.. I have the runway going north to south
I have the runway black line taxiway going north to south direction
I have a taxi way leading to both ends of the runway and 1 GA large ramp on the taxi way
I have set up 1 (one) AI plane
The plane leaves at the set time, it taxis fine to the begnning of the runway, lines up and then just sits there......

I have gone through everything I can possibly think of

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in Advance

Kevin

You need hold-short nodes on the taxiways leading to the runway centre-line. Position them roughly then use "View/Hold short limits" to check that they are near enough to the runway.

That is only one (but the first and most probable one one might think of) of many to follow before your AI will work properly.!
How about your destination airport? Is that configured for AI as well?
What about your flightplan making program? Which one do you use and does it really contain no errors? Does it make FSX type plans?
Do you use a default FSX aircraft as AI to test?
Is your runway long enough for the type of aircraft?
...?

Hi Folks

How about your destination airport?
Is that configured for AI as well?
Roby -
Ai traffic will work
even when the destination airport AFD doesn't exist.

All you need do is supply the F/P
with a valid ICAO and coords set, (fictional or otherwise).

Kevin,

If George's tip doesn't fix it (but I would bet his suspicion is right) ... have you run the Fault Finder in ADE to check if there is an error?

The only way it will sit on the runway and not take off is if it hasn't passed through a hold-short node

If you say so, George, I believe you straight away.
Was just trying to point out other factors involved in making AI work properly.

Planes NOW taking off.. but landing in the field before

Thanks for all the replies and support Guys.......

It was the lack of hold short nodes that created the problem.. it is funny how something so small can either make or ruin your day.......

Every thing is fine and I managed to get AI working .. I only have one small problem, which is , when planes Land they seem to land well before the runway and then taxi up to it.....

Hi,

Showing your ADE layout might help locating the trouble but, as a guess, I would say your runway taxipath (black one) is too long/ starts too far from your runway. You are using a default FSX aircraft to test it, I hope?

blak path

the runway black path starts right in the middle of the runway start circle near but on the end of the runway where ade automatically puts it

You can move your runway start circle. But that is not the point.
Maybe you could show an ADE screenshot because otherwise we will keep on guessing till we weigh an ounce.
From the info you provide it is hard to tell if your runway is long enough and how long your runway taxipath is. And are you using the default aircraft for AI testing purposes?

picture

here is a pic of the end of the runway. plane landing (notice tyre smoke)

and also ade end
