• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

Blender Help with wire fence

Hi all. I’m pretty much pathetic at Blender I’ll admit that. I have been following tutorials and even built a Treasure Chest which surprisingly turned out as per the instructions! I’m guessing that the more time I spend with the interface the more comfortable and better I’ll become. However like all people I’m trying to run before being competent!!
I want to put a 3 strand wire fence into MSFS 2020 airport. About 3km of it held up by coppers logs (pine posts). It’s a farm strip.
So how would I go about creating wire strands? And do I need to texture them to get them into MSFS?
I have made a few simple hangars and brought them in even though the texturing is abominable. So I sort of know what I’m doing...
Any pointers would be appreciated!
I agree that an airport without a fence around it is just plain wrong. My current theory on fences is that the way to do it is to put downloaded textures (e.g. ) onto a plane in blender and to make several lengths of fence, say 20m, 100m and 500m and make them so each one has a fence post at the start but not at the end.

Trying this is on my list of things to try for the fence around my Tilsock Airport. If/when I succeed I will post the Blender Models etc. have made at https://flightsim.to/file/5341/tilstock-airport-egct and here.
Hi and thanks for the reply. So I took some time out from using FS and put it into all the beginner Blender tutorials and managed to learn about scaling and the various objects etc. Spending time has given me a bit of familiarity with the interface, even though I have to use the latest version which is different to the version that most use in the tutorials.
For some reason 2.9x has all its common workflow hidden compared to the older version.
Anyway I managed to do just as you said - 100m 20m and 5m 4 strand fence and textured for MSFS. In addition I created power lines and floats suspended on them at one end of the airport near the road.
