• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Here we go again....

[EDITED]

There has been an increase of deplorable connectivity via FireFox browser for this address:

Code:
https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/

[END_EDIT]

If one persists in attempting to refresh the page to achieve a proper web page render, one gets this reply:

Fatal error: Uncaught XF\Db\Exception: Connection refused in /var/www/vhosts/fsdeveloper.com/httpdocs/forum/src/XF/Db/Mysqli/Adapter.php:165 Stack trace: #0 /var/www/vhosts/fsdeveloper.com/httpdocs/forum/src/XF/Db/Mysqli/Adapter.php(28): XF\Db\Mysqli\Adapter->makeConnection(Array) #1 /var/www/vhosts/fsdeveloper.com/httpdocs/forum/src/XF/Db/AbstractAdapter.php(60): XF\Db\Mysqli\Adapter->getConnection() #2 /var/www/vhosts/fsdeveloper.com/httpdocs/forum/src/XF/Db/Mysqli/Adapter.php(113): XF\Db\AbstractAdapter->connect() #3 /var/www/vhosts/fsdeveloper.com/httpdocs/forum/src/XF/Db/AbstractAdapter.php(516): XF\Db\Mysqli\Adapter->escapeString('options') #4 /var/www/vhosts/fsdeveloper.com/httpdocs/forum/src/XF/Db/AbstractAdapter.php(494): XF\Db\AbstractAdapter->quote('options') #5 /var/www/vhosts/fsdeveloper.com/httpdocs/forum/src/XF/DataRegistry.php(138): XF\Db\AbstractAdapter->quote(Array) #6 /var/www/vhosts/fsdeveloper.com/httpdocs/forum/src/XF/DataRegistry.php(83): XF\DataRegistry->readFromDb(Array, Array) #7 /var/www/vhosts/ in /var/www/vhosts/fsdeveloper.com/httpdocs/forum/src/XF/Db/Mysqli/Adapter.php on line 165

Gary,

Sorry, I don't understand what your point is. It seems like you had issues reaching the site once, from the error it looks like a database issue at the webhost. Does this happen often for you? For me the website is stable recently.

Not just 'once' ...more like every few minutes, either when attempting to first resolve the top forum URL, or when already logged onto the forums, then clicking another forum link.

The OP message posted above is typical of that seen here months ago when connectivity issues reached "critical mass".

Does this happen often for you? For me the website is stable recently.

This has been occurring more in the last week; the forum was much more stable for the prior few months beforehand.

PS: I just got another "TLS" handshake message when FireFox attempted to resolve the FSDev top forum URL: this is characteristic of a M.I.T.M. attack as discussed in a similar thread on this issue months ago. :alert:

Is FSDev < "PWNED" > ? :scratchch

Gary, until now you are the only one reporting this. So I find it quite inappropriate to suggest a kind of attack or hack on the website. Before reaching such conclusions I would first like to establish if this is a general problem.

Last time we had many people reporting issues and that is not (yet) the case now.

WWe have an automatic service monitor downtime and in the last days I have seen some short downtimes, but not very often or long.

I had a brief issue a few days back, but before and after working normal. Using Google Chrome.

There has been increasing lag or total failure to connect via FireFox on multiple PCs on a LAN, and also using Opera Mini on an Android mobile phone when saving new or edited posts to threads, and/or when clicking links at FSDev over the last week.

When I search Google on this string:

Fatal error: Uncaught XF\Db\Exception: Connection refused in /var/www/vhosts/fsdeveloper.com/httpdocs/forum/src/XF/Db/Mysqli/Adapter.php:165

...Google finds:

Of particular interest is this statement by a 'XenForo Developer':

https://xenforo.com/community/threads/forum-down-adapter-php-at-line-121.143218/

"Your MySQL server is refusing the connection that XF is trying to make.

We’re not in a position to be able to provide advice as to why that is as the issue can only exist between XF and MySQL and there’s nothing we can do to impact that if MySQL is rejecting the connection.
"

BTW: Regarding Google Chrome... ;)

Gary,

Yes, it was clear to me that the MySQL server is the issue. But that's out of my control as well, the database server is managed by the webhost.

When we had the issue last year they said we have too much traffic and that that might be part of the problem. I'll check our stats later to see if we have a change in amount of users recently.

Hello:

Thanks for pointing out the editing error I made typing the FSDev top URL in the very early morning hours today. :)

I have now corrected the URL in the OP above to a HTTPS prefix (which I do always use to navigate to the FSDev web site).

FYI: I copied / pasted the actual error message in the OP above, exactly as it appeared on screen in FireFox. :pushpin:

BTW: Ever since I began using that https prefix to navigate to the FSDev web site, I have seen more connection errors than at the old HTTP URL.

While I generally welcome a (...more? ) secure web site, after the HTTPS change and increased connectivity issues began, FSDev is seen in a "Padlock view" on my computer.

Sorry Gary, but I haven't seen that sort of error in weeks, if not months.

My current version of Firefox is 76.0.1 (64-bit) which I think is the latest, since I always let it update as updates are released. Which version are you on? I could suggest logging out, clearing your cache and logging back in, but no other suggestions to offer.
