• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

How can I get an exclude to work on a scenery object?

For anyone who can help me with this troubling problem, I and all who run across this problem, will be in debted forever. The problem is excluding light poles and telephone poles. I can exclude the heck outta everything with either xml or other type of excludes but I can't get rid of these pesky poles.
I have made previous postings with no help.Here is a copy of the xml file:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<FSData
version="9.0"
xmlns:xsi='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance'
xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="bglcomp.xsd" >
<ExclusionRectangle
latitudeMinimum ="26 3.50"
latitudeMaximum ="26 4.50"
longitudeMinimum ="-80 09.00"
longitudeMaximum ="-80 08.00"
excludeAllObjects = "TRUE"
excludeBeaconObjects = "FALSE"
excludeEffectObjects = "FALSE"
excludeGenericBuildingObjects = "TRUE"
excludeLibraryObjects = "TRUE"
excludeTaxiwaySignObjects = "FALSE"
excludeTriggerObjects = "FALSE"
excludeWindsockObjects = "FALSE"/>

</FSData>

I'm also attaching a jpg of the problem child which you can see in the middle of the road in front of the terminal.

I think those elements belong to the default VTP lines (roads for example). In Fs2004 these roads have elements like signs, lights, telegraph poles etc attache to them.

To remove these you need to make a VTP exclude, as you can not exclude them with a XML or a SCASM exclude. I can't remember the layer number they are on at the moment.

Hi Arno,
Is this info contained in an SDK from Microsoft? If so I can and need to read up on it. It's consuming too much of my life......:-)

This is what I found in the Terrain SDK, but I don't know exactly to which of them the autogen is attached. I think it is just paved roads.

Code:
Type of Data                           Layer ID
Streams and power line corridors 4
Unpaved roads and railroads            5
Paved roads                            6
Airport skirtings and parks            7
Shorelines                             8

If these are new roads that you placed and the poles are popping up where you don't want them..... Try doing the road in the opposite direction. If doing the road from A to B puts poles in the apron or runway areas..... Try to do the road in the B to A direction.

Hi Guys, :wave:
The problem is the scenery object already coded into the Microsoft textures, I think Arno is correct in that a VTP exclude is warranted, but how? The example in the SDK is non existant! If I'm missing it, straighten me out. If anyone knows the format for a VTP exclude, please share your knowledge.
Thanks,
Joe McC.

Isn't This a Job for DefArea?

DefAreaV2.0 by Christian Fumey would allow you to exclude a VTP line by slewing over it in FS9 using FSConnect or similar. It is available in Avsim Library

"From ReadMe

DefArea creates automatically .bgl that contains excludes for roads/rivers/shorelines

For that, you need in FS to follow roads, rivers and /or shorelines once DefArea is activated.
You can fly in normal mode or in slew mode.

DefArea recognizes your line by the corresponding layer.

Rivers==> layer 4
Rails==> layer 5
Roads==>layer 6
Terrain polys and bridges==> layer 7
Shorelines ==> layer 8

Hope this helps

:rotfl:

It's a Miracle!
Thank you Bryan, what a wonderful little program. It's a little short on docs but works great. Once activated acts like an eraser, start the program, fly around the area you want to exclude, stop, creat a bgl, and your done!

WOOHOO
I can patch up my cuts and bruises and move on, did I say thank you?

Thanks,

Hi,
I would agree with Bryan - DefArea is the most suitable tool to make such excludes. Just slew over telephone poles with aircraft and make exclusion. I am not sure if layer 6 will remove them - at least at my airport telephone poles remained but on layer 5 they gone away.
With DefArea You can produce excluding BGL right away (with BGLC from FS2002 BGLC SDK - http://download.microsoft.com/downl...tall/sdk/W982KMeXP/EN-US/bgl_compiler_sdk.exe) or You can check (and optionally update) source file which is notepad like text file with extension ASM.

Best regards,
