• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

MSFS How to disable a runway completely?

Hi there,
I am currently working on improving my scenery for the airport of Chania (LGSA).
There is one thing that bothers me a lot: It is the runway 29L/11R. This runway is not in use anymore (Except for military emergencies that rarely happen).
But when I do an IFR flight to the airport, the default runway it selects is the disabled runway 29L/11R. Not the much larger 29R/11L runway that is used in the real world.
I have already set the No Primary landing / takeoff flags to enabled and even tried it with closing the ends of the runway with the Primary / Secondary end closed with an "X" option.
But unfortunately nothing works. I even removed the runway "Starts"
Is there a way to disable the runway completely?
The reason why I want to keep it is because of the aesthetics. The runway in the real world still has all of the markings and lights.

Did you try the "No Primary landing /takeoff" also on the secondary end? I think 29L will still be available if it's not the case. .Just a though.

I did so. Even on the official SDK guide it says that this will disable that end of the runway. But it does not work...
 
I did a quick look at the default LGSA. The runway starts for 11/29 are over the wrong runway according to ADE. Maybe that is a problem?
 
I am using the "Developer Mode" and the Scenery Editor in the Sim. In there I reconstructed the entire airport. I have added the second runway (29L/11R) Because it is only used for military emergencies (That happen rarely) and thefefore is still marked and lighted as a normal runway.
I have even removed the runway starts for the runway but still it seems to be usable...

This seems to work when compiled and in Community. Rarely do we need to delete and recreate an entire airport.
 
I observe Chania's traffic since yesterday and I've never seen plane landing on the 11R/29L. The ATIS says that both runways are usable but ATC directs traffic on the good runway for landing and take-off. I don't know what it would be in DevMode but I think it would be the same.
I have also removed all 11R/29L runway links because it's now Taxiway Sierra. Of course everything is closed in ADE for the former 11R/29L
