• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

how to display objects of a bgl object library?

Hi,
I want to convert some FS9 Airports to P3DV5, and I am seeing separate object placement bgl's that refer to other object libraries, however the objects of those libraries cannot be displayed in MCX. Is there a way to display or extract those objects out of a library of an old FS9 bgl file?

Thanks

Hi,

Do you mean that when you load the placement file those objects do not show? That's normal as MCX will read only that BGL and those objects are not part of it.

The only function that combine different libraries and placement files is the scene builder wizard. But that will make a single object out of all of them, not sure if that's what you want.

It should also work if you just convert each library from fs2004 to p3d.

If you load the library BGL file into MCX, you can use the green arrows at the upper left to move between objects. To convert the entire library, simply choose export scenery and choose the P3D BGL file type. To extract a single object from the library use export object and choose P3D MDL file. Then place the MDL file into a new library using a program like library creator X.

Hello, not exactly. I want to find the lightpoles of the airport scenery e.g. for old FS9 airports in order to add dynamic lighting effects to the objects, but it seems the lightpoles are part of some object libraries, of which the single models cannot be shown in MCX, I only can see the GUID, but not the models themselves, so how can I have them displayed so that I can edit and convert them as single models bgl?

We would probably have to look at the light poles to see what the problem is. We don’t have enough information so far.

So when you select the light pole from the library you get an empty object in MCX?
