• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX How to eliminate the runway?

As I mentioned, I am trying to modify an existing coastal airstrip but even with the following two excludes I can still see the default airstrip/runway on the scenery. I want it removed so that I can redraw it correctly with taxiways and all.

Airport_Backgrounds_Flatten_MaskClassMap_ExcludeAutoGen
Exclude_Airport_Backgrounds_Flatten_MaskClassMap_ExcludeAutoGen

Isn't that enough to remove the default runway from there?

No. That will remove the airport background polygon. To remove the runway you need to use an Airport Editor (I think you use FSX Planner) and delete the runway in that program. Compile it and place the bgl file into FSX.

Or are you talking about photo scenery?

Will try on this one but I doubt it, I used fSX Planner's Exclusion polygon (more like an unhandy rectangle only in 90 degrees) did not remove an airport strip in a previous small project.

And how? FSX Planner only has an "Exclude" item on the toolbar that says it will *remove* the selected objects. It has the option to remove everything, or windsocks, library objects, taxiwa signts etc. but says nothing about excluding a runway.

Still having problem with this, in fact I ran into it with another scenery modification.

The standard FSX airport is incorrectly named PX06 (and has many other flaws not matching reality) but the real ICAO code is MPCE. If I name my airport modification MPCE then both show on the GPS and flight planner options. If I use PX06 I am having my mods but leaving it with the incorrect name.

Sure there is no other way to get rid of that or correct it? I have several airports in my region that have this fault.

You cannot get rid of unwanted airport data (ICAO) unless you are prepared to hack the stock APX file and remove the record. This is a fact of life in FS.
