SDK How to make a flashing strobe light?

Hi!

I have an airport where there is supposed to ba a flashing strobe light 150 m from the runway threshold. I can make a light preset in SDK that will flash. However, this does not create illumination on the ground, so I made a flashing light in Blender that has the same interval. This works fine in one way, but the problem here is that it is difficult to sync the blender flash with the flash in SDK. It seems like these two starts at different time when you start the sim. Another issue is that the flash made with light preset has a short range. It seems like it has difficulty to show among other lights (approach lights) at a distance, even give it higher intensity and radius. However, it gets very big/bright at close distance.

In other words, any ideas how to make a flashing strobe that shows at a distance and at the same time illuminate the ground at closer distance?

As you have already noticed, confirm it is impossible to sync the strobe time of the light preset and the Blender light.( Do you have a sample of something similar working?), both the ligths and emissive code (for emissive material)

I'm a bit puzzled about the flash not visible at a distance, you should obtain the same result as the approach lights, have you tried making the flash longer / the light larger? Try putting it side by side of a default like a mimic it, also make sure it is not occluded by the lamp mesh

Then, there is the fact that the Blender light will turn off in a couple of kilometers at best..(so personally I wouldn't bother too much, because at that distance your eyes are tripped by the flash and won't notice the light splash)

Yes I guess the combination blender flash and light preset flash synched together is something that won't be possible...

When it comes to the visibility of the light preset flash, it looks good on close range, but seems to be "swallowed" by other nearby light presets when on a distance. I have tried 100 in intensity and radius, and it works on short distance. When going further away, it is hard to see between other approach lights. In any case, it is not as dominating as I would like it to be...

Make a very large polygon that is underground and attach your flashing light to it.

Yes I do that with the "Blender light!", but I am talking about my flash made by light presets. It flashes and looks good at short distance, but not at longer...even if I ramp up the radius and intensity. Can't go to far on these settings since it looks crazy at closer distance.

Man I can't help you there. I can tell you when I did KTTD, I could not get the tower light to have any sort of persistence. The threshold light, however with the strobe, I could see to the horizon and I just had to leave it at that. Maybe download that scenery and see if there is anything I did differently from what you're doing.

Ok...thank you..:)
