• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

how to make autogen buildings with...

Please help ! How to make autogen buildings with custom textures ?
I want to make some 12-15 floor buildings with simple shape, but custom textures, I use FS2004 autogen sdk, can I change all the autogen buildings that use my custom textures ? But I don't want to overwrite the default FS9 building textures with my custom one. Anyone can help ?
I think you will find that you need to create a new building with Gmax, compile it with other buildings you have made into a Library file with Arnos Lib Maker. Then edit the Autogen XML and add the new buildings to it in the relevant areas .

Look at the last set of this example:

<NAME>Urban Medium</NAME>

This will place your new autogen object in " Urban Medium " in region " A" only so you need to add additional lines of code per region and area type.

thanks Jeff for your reply, but region A covers a large area, if I want my autogen only appears in a specific country that only covers a small area, how to do this with your method ?
HI Sam, you need to find the code for your region then as you scroll thru the Autogen XML Code you will find the region that applies to you, its then a matter of adding the Library Call into the XML and saving it, ( back up the original 1st !!! ) and when you start FS9 the new autogen objects will appear.

I have made an animated rotating windmill and have it showing as autogen in the Australian East Coast areas by this method !

Here is the Region Table:

Region Description
A Europe
B North America, except southwest United States
C Southwest United States and central Australia
D South America
E Africa, except Sahara
F Asia
G Australia, except central region
H Tropics
I Arctic
J Saharan Africa and Middle East

Class Codes:

• Urban Small
• Urban Medium
• Urban Large
• Water Objects
• Rural Medium
• Rural Large

As you can see Region G is the east coast australia where Region C is Central Australian AND Southwest USA so any autogen in region C will show in Australia and Sth West USA

Scroll thru the XML code till you find your Region and add the extra objects, allso dont forget to add the object to each desired Class withing the Region !

I think if you are defining your own AGN files, then it should also be possible to get this without having to design your own objects. In the Annotator tool you can specify the texture that is used. So that should allow you to use a different texture for your autogen buildings only within the AGN files you make yourself.
