• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

How to prevent AI plane to use certain surface type of runway?

Aircraft types.csv, among other parameters states that certain aircraft types can only use hard and other can use both hard and soft surfaced runways.

I read the FS X Sim object container SDK- aircraft configuration files and that parameter is not described at all too be a part of any section of Aircraft.cfg file. What I need to do is to prevent a certain piston twin aircraft from using grass runways, so I was expecting something similar to parking types parameter that is part of [fltsim.x] section, also for the runway types, but so far I couldn't locate an example of aircraft that uses this parameter, and, as already mentioned, SDK knows nothing about it.

Any suggestions as of how to prevent an AI piston twin from using a grass surfaced runway?

From my testing with TrafficDatabaseBuilder I found the runway type [HARD_SOFT] params are only used when TDBB makes auto plans and has no effect in user created plans.

I did some testing and can confirm a nondocumented feature to work:

entry:

atc_runway_types=HARD

into [fltsim.xx] section of Aircraft.cfg will prevent AI traffic from using soft runway types = grass, dust and so on.

Probably entry: atc_runway_types=SOFT will prevent AI aircraft from using hard surfaced runways, but I didn't tested that one.

Thanks for that info
