• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

How to use FSUPIC?

Hi all, first post here.

I wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction of connecting to FSUIPC or what i need to open it? I am .net developer who wished to build an ACARS system so i need things like flight time and distance etc...

I obviously have visual studio 2008 is there anyway to add a reference to the .dll to access its objects or variables? When i try and add a reference to the dll from the modules folder visual studio just says there are no libraries.

Any help in the right direction would be great.

Thanks.

It really doesn't matter, FSUIPC 3/4 work in both. However, in FSX, similar facilities in SimConnect.

George

True but if the work is in FSX and there is no specific need to use the extensions from FSUIPC (The FSX version of which uses SimConnect) then it might be better to go directly to simconnect rather than introducing the intermediate FSUIPC. Of course in FS9 there is no such choice.

Thanks for the reply. I have managed to view some examples after downloading from Pete Dowson's website.

I am initially going to build the ACARS system for FS9 but would need it to also work with FSX. My main query is do i need to pay to build an app with FSUIPC but when i distribute the software (and presumably FSUIPC along with that) does the client also need to pay?

Also how much does it cost and is it a 1 off payment?

Thanks.

Contact Pete Dowson about this. As I recall freeware software can get a free license code so that users do not need the paid for version. If, however, you plan to sell your product using FSUIPC you will need to pay for a license. Pete is here sometimes and may see this. Alternatively you could PM him

If your application uses the free functionality within FSUIPC then your users wont need to pay for the full version. You'd be surprised how much is available in the free version.
