• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Is it possible to make a floating object move with the waves

FYI.
In The Flying Theston's tutorial he does NOT explain how to set the 'frame end point' and as a lot of authors seem to do he assumes the viewer knows certain things. As good as The Flying Theston's tutorial are (I have used quite a few which helped me a lot ) he sometimes assumes.
I had to use Grant Abbitts "The Complete Beginners Guide to Animation" video to learn how to do that using the 'Object Properties' panel.

Just a tip for learners like me.

I assumed that to make my floatplane move like a real stationary floatplane I need to change the X and Y (axis) rotation values which gives a nice effect (pitch and roll) however after viewing how flyable floatplanes move when stationary (in FS2020) they seem to move mainly on the Z axis (up and down) and I have determined to achieve that motion I need to change the value for the Z axis in the LOCATION panel.
Small objects such as Lagaffe's BUOY usually move about a lot and so his action for that looks good.

Has anyone added animation to large floating objects and if so how did you achieve the best 'action'

Bravo for your success !
The bigger an object is, the more inertia it has, so its movements on the water are slower but with greater amplitudes than for small objects (I have worked 30 years for the French Navy).
