• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.

FS2004 JFK Canarsie Approach 13L/R

Hi,
I noted (while working many years) at JFK that most of the 13L/R approaches are over VOR Canarsie. Or approaching JFK heading roughly 45 over Canarsie VOR and turning sharp right to land either 13L or 13R. Unfortunately the stock JFK has 13L ILS and basically ATC route all AI aircraft to land the non realistic (over Manhattan) ILS approach. There are also VOR Canarsie approaches (13LVOR and 13RVOR) in the stock JFK but since ILS is the prime approach in FS, these are neglected by ATC and it routes all AI to 13L ILS instead.
Yes, me flying and after offered 13L ILS, I can request the Canarsie approach but then get tangled up with AI landing ILS on 13L or visual approach to 13R.

My question is, can I use ADE to make 13L/R Canarsie approaches prime! for the ATC to call all AI and me flying?
Thanks for any advise.

Hi,

Yes, Bill and I did it for our 1962 KJFK scenery. The AI planes gather from all points of the compass over the mouth of the bay, pass over the Canarsie VOR, turn right at their runway and land. Works pretty well.

The AD4 File is attached so you can see how we did it. They are the last two approaches in the listing. BTW, this was done with the help of the late Jim Vile, who perfected this technique.

Hope this helps,
