• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Kennedy Space Center Scenery for MSFS2020

A few quick screenshots of the current WIP on KSC scenery for MSFS2020, which as been sorely neglected by Asobo. Probably a first for MSFS, this scenery will be "temporal", as in, it will change depending on when you fly: We have incorporated a WASM module that will place appropriate space flight hardware according to the date of flight selected (Apollo/Shuttle/Artemis). The objects will be animated: The CrawlerTransporter moves slowly and precisely along the Crawlerway. When the scenery is loaded, the Crawler and it's "cargo" will be randomly placed on a few pre-selected positions (exiting out of the VAB, on its way to the pads, going back from the pads, etc.) with its history-appropriate launch hardware on top of it.

Fantastic looking scenery! The ability to change scenery objects based on date is very interesting!

Alright - we have the rocket! We’ve successfully converted the Artemis Block 1 launch vehicle from P3D to MSFS2020! And, we have the code that stacks the various SimObjects together, with proper offsets, and slaves them to the “leader” vehicle, so that the whole assembly moves together! So in this case, Crawler Transporter is carrying MLP (launch platform), the launch tower and the rocket!

This will enable us to create all kinds of launch assemblies (based on the time of flight user chooses) and have them move along the crawlerway from the VAB to the launch pad! Still a lot of work to do, but we think it is coming along nicely!

This looks incredibly good, a masterpiece of technology. May I ask whether the space vehicle will be static or will it also fly?

But either way, this is going to be a real hit in MSFS 👍

We developed SpacePort, a fully-functioning spaceflight module for P3D. The SimConnect code is almost identical for MSFS2020, but MSFS2020 has some limitations that we are working on overcoming (like an 85 km altitude ceiling). This scenery is sort of a "prep" for the full simulator, as we will need these facilities and models.

Ok just throwing spaghetti at the wall to see if it sticks, but first person view is largely "scenery" related, it is all about grass and canyons and above 200,000' there is little of that anyway. Beyond that altitude you could go into remote viewing mode and I don't know what you intend to simulate, Mars? ISS? Whichever, that could be your edited "former" Earth. You go up, watch some graphics of orbital maneuvers and then come back down to drive a rover on the Moon. If you use a cockpit modeled like a remote workstation, you could probably even swap external models. You could create an arrangement like this and project HTML videos or gauge elements onto the monitors.

Am so glad to hear that SpecePort is still going !!!!

Hi Everyone!

Here are a few quick screenshots of work in progress on the SLF (Shuttle Landing Facility, ICAO:KTTS) area. This in essence is a working airport, but, as always, we’ve upgraded all the buildings from generic to all custom-designed. Again, this is still a work in progress, and we are at the moment adding detail to Mating/De-mating Device (MDD), a huge structure that was used to attach Space Shuttle Orbiter to Orbiter Carrier Aircraft.

Looking good !

Google suggests they are just placeholders. Wonder what that NASA font is, it looks really striking on the 30, I suppose that was the intent. The Oshkosh Striker font.

Ha! They ARE placeholders indeed... I will model the proper types, but that's fairly low down on the to-do list ;)
