• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.

Lack of BGL file

After producing a hangar with 10 sliding doors I exported without any problem. This produced asm files as well as a bgl. BGL works fine in FS9 but of course is in a loop. Using CAT I produced two more ASM files but when I try to produce a bgl by dragging the ASM file over BGLC I do not get a bgl.
Is there some obvious thing I may have omitted or done wrong?

By the way I am using FS2002 gamepack.

I am fairly new to GMax and CAT usage.

Thanks

Al

Not very sure about this, but I thought you need to use BGLC_9 downloadable from this forum, that create a bgl file, you need to rename it to a mdl file. Edit the xml file, so it uses the new mdl and then use bglcomposer to create the bgl. Not very sure, so correct me if I'm wrong.

I am working in FS2002 SDK, GMax so I think I am doing it correctly, no XML files involved. I am new to this so I could be wrong as well. I have had some success in Exporting from FS2002 GMax as a BGL, Saving files and then running the ASM through CAT to produce the BGL. I realize this is FS2002 technology but it seems to show up in FS2002 and FS2004. The BGL that is produced by GMax along with the ASM files works in FS2004 but there animation is in a "loop" and just continues to open and close and of course I have no way to de-activate it.

Using this method I have had success in placing hangars with two folding doors. I now have 10 sliding doors on this hangar and I cannot seem to get CAT to produce a BGL.

OK, found the problem, it appears to be a bug in CAT. There is a fault in the label naming when there are more then 9 animation tables. I will fix this in CAT, until then the only solution is using less animated parts :).

New version is now available for download that fixes the bug.
