• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I copied all (37) files in the 6th October zip to a new folder. Stll will not run.

Ran SFC /ScanNow, only errors were related to Windows Defender PowerShell module files (a known problem).

Updated W10 to Version 1903.

Updated Net Framewiork to V1809.

MCX still does not start.

Thanks Guenther,

There was a new batch of updates this morning

MCX still won't start.

Did I say that I hate W10 :banghead:

BTW. How did you copy the text from the "View update history" page?

Weird that MCX still doesn't work. Let me see if I can find some more information if I Google your initial error.

It is even more weird since it was working minutes before I downloaded the latest development release.

Did you change anything else on the machine in between?

Can you check if the event viewer of windows lists more details, like a stack trace? It should be at:

EventViewer/Windows Logs/Application

Else I might try to add an additional catch statement in MCX to catch this issue.

These errors are from a new download into a new folder.

As I said, I had already converted 5 models. When attempting to convert the 6th, I was offered (and took) the opportunity to update.

After the updtate, the program would not start.

Since then I have updated Windows 10 to the state in reply #24.

It seems to be an issue trying to read some data from the configuration file that stores the options. I think you said before you already tried to delete old configurations?

The configuration files are not in the MCX folder, they are in your user data. I'll post the path later when I'm behind my pc.

You will find the configuration files in:

C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\SceneryDesign.org

In that folder you will find one or more sub-folders that start their name with ModelConverterX. Each of these folders is for a specific location where MCX has been installed. Can you try to remove the configuration file there? I suspect one of these files might be corrupt.

Hmm, I have a file in the original MCX flder called ModelConverterX.exe.config dated 4/10/2018. I thought this was the config file you meant.

OK, I deleted the config file in AppData\Local, and it now runs.

The settings are correct, but it will not import nor allow drag/drop of my FS9 bgl.

However, it will open the file I converted to FSX format on my XP machine

It will also export the .mdl.

Thank you, it seems to be working now but I shall do some more tests.

Look at them all:

LookAtThemAll.png

I deleted all the MCX folders, and then restarted MCX. It starts up just fine, but you will need to reconfigure the program as to folders, preferences, etc...
