• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Library Creator XML GUID problems

I have received a few report now that the random GUID made by Library Creator is not always that random. After one of these reports I created a beta version that should fix it, and for the user reporting the problem it indeed did. Due to the problems with the website after that I forgot to officially release this version. The last days I heard the same problem again a few times, so I think it is time to see if this fix also solves these problems.

A quick test showed me that when setting up this new website I put the new version online already, so everybody who downloaded the tool from this forum already has the new version.

For everybody else, please download it from the sticky in the forum.

To prevent problems when releasing your scenery I would advice everybody to recreate your library with the new version, so that you get new GUIDs. I understand that this also means you have to correct the placement, but it is the only way to prevent future problems with objects with the same GUID (of which I got an report already unfortunately).

Please let me know if this new version does not seem to solve the problem with the random GUIDs, because I will search future in that case.

Hey Arno, I'm wondering are you using the MS GUID generator tool in your process? Apparently this should create completely unique GUID's...

I'm not sure the validity of the MS SDK claims but it might be worth looking into ;)

This bug has long been solved :). It was a fault in initializing the randomizer.

At the moment I do not use the MS GUID generator, because I could not find out how to link it into my VB tool. But the current code also works correct.

Thanks Dick, that article was easier to use then the ones I have seen before :). I have implemented it in Library Creator XML now. So when I release the next version the GUID will be determined by MS :).
