• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I know this might have been asked already. I am having a problem getting my Big Thumbnail Pack to show up in my ADE.

I have followed the instructions as posted on this page
http://scruffyduck.screenstepslive....2964-how-do-i-add-a-big-thumbnail-pack-to-ade

I have tried 3 times and I still cannot get any other libraries show.
Can someone please make this a bit clearer than mud for me?

The big thumbnail pack is exactly what it says - thumbnails of objects. Adding it to ADE won't add any objects into the LOM. To do this you need to load information from the library object bgl files themselves.

Thanks for the reply Jon.

I understand, but what I am having trouble with is the actual display of the other folders. Even after I have followed all the steps listed, the other additional libraries are not showing up in the Library box. I still only see the default items that come with the original installation.

Can you help me understand what I am failing to do to get those to show up?

I am not sure how else to put it. I presume you mean getting folders to show in the LOM. Well they won't - the only way to do that is to load the actual bgl files containing the objects into the LOM. The big thumbnail pack contains only small images. ADE will only show these in the LOM when you have the associated object loaded. So the LOM knows absolutely nothing about the folders contained in the Big Thumbnail pack. To use thumbnails ADE gets the GUID (unique identifier) from the object itself and then searches the Big Thumbnail Pack on your computer and if it finds that GUID in there it will get the thumbnail. I guess the other thing is where you actually copied the BTP onto your computer?

The LOM looks in one Folder and any sub folders of that folder. You can set it here:

It looks from your screenshot above that you have LOM pointed at C:\Airport Design Editor 170\P33\Thumbs. so is that where you copied the contents of the BTP?

Even if you follow everything in the link that you post, you will still NOT get any libraries installed into the LOM, because you have not installed the actual libraries! The thumbnail pack does not include them; you have to download them from the web and install them as described in the ADE manual for the LOM.

From your link above:

"IMPORTANT These packs contain small thumbnail images. They do not contain any objects, or bgl object libraries. You do not get the objects when you download these packs, you get thumbnails that ADE can use to show you what a library object looks like."

Hope this helps,

Im totally lost as well, I thought the big thumnail pack reffered to objects in the base p3D sim. I can’t even get the thumnail to show, unless it only shows if the actual thing exists. But I am not sure it looks for them when adding objects.

Can someone help me figure out, hiw to add a 737 or some normal airliner into my airport. I can only ad the A380 in gray...

Thanks I am really new to this, but not to aviation.
