Hey, I'm currently working on a scenery which would replace the default Niagara falls. I've run into a roadblock with the way terrain mesh is dealt with.
as you can see, up close the terrain masking looks pretty good. However, when you get farther away (perhaps the more important metric seeing as this is a flight sim) the terrain LOD makes the masking look terrible:
I found some info here: https://developer.x-plane.com/article/scenery-system-for-msfs-developers/ (yes it's hilarious that I was able to find better documentation than MSFS provides from their competitor)
showing that (from what I could understand) msfs basically decides the mesh as you fly, and user mesh masking with polygons are more of a suggestion than a rule. is this correct? am I boned?
Thanks for any help
Metro
P.S. this is a very early model as a proof of concept, it will look better than this. that is, if I can get this mesh sorted.)
