• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello,
I will apologize to start for this long post.
I have been flying MS flight sims for a long time using it in conjunction with my real life flight training and keeping skills up when the weather is bad.

I have been flying FS since FS 98 and currently hce FS9 and FSX loaded.

I had problems with my orginal FSX CD's so I purchased the "GOLD" edition.
I have installed along with Acceleration on my G: drive. ( a 750G harddrive)
I have a AMD Athalon 64x2 Dual Core PRocessor 5000+ 2.61 GHZ
2.0GB Ram , Video card GeForce 8800GT
The only changes I have made are two tweaks to the fsx.cfg file for Bufferpool settings and Fibertime setting.
I have Fupic 4 loaded to run FS Fying school program

The reason for this post:
I would like to learn about making scenery, aircraft etc.
I loaded the SDK on the CD onto my G drive and tried to follow the instructions on the SDK reference docs.
I loaded sp1a, sp2 came with the acceleration pack.
checked the dll file in the apps section making the true-False change and putting in the path to the G drive.

But I still do not seek the tools in my FSX menu bar when I open up my default flight.
I am not sure what to do next to get this to work. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Jerry

Hi Folks

Jerry -
Please see FSDeveloper - Wiki - SDK Installation (FSX)
Ensure you've installed the SDK SP2,
and not just SDK SP1a.

Good clue/quick-check is -
the SDK SP2 documentation
is provided in a single-file compiled help format, (fsxsdk.chm)
rather than the previously supplied html format.

If you've got the fsxsdk.chm,
then remove all other addon refs in dll.xml.

EDIT
As you've installed FSX on a different drive, (G: ),
if you've installed the SDK to the default drive, (C: ),
then you must use the full path in the dll.xml

e.g.
Code:
<Path>C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Mission Creation Kit\object_placement.dll</Path>

SDK Install Co9mplete

Hello BASys,
Thanks for your note. I had the document printed before i made the post but still could get it to work.
I went through each step closely and finally got it to work using the Non default instuctions on page 4.
I had to remove the two periods after path the myG drive address

Now I can start to learn how to use these tools
Thanks
Jerry
