• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v5 Building a team for a video series

I am assembling a team of designers for a series of flight simulation videos where viewers can explore beautiful, exotic, and historically significant locations.

As of now we need:
  • Autogen buildings and vegetation that vary by location
  • Custom buildings and library objects
  • Improved airports
  • Technical advice regarding optimal settings for visual presentation (like framerates)
This is currently non-paid, but I will share any income from the video channel with the team -- based on their level of commitment -- once revenue starts coming in. However, if you are a payware developer or aspire to be, this would be a good way to showcase your work and contributors would be credited. Any help is greatly appreciated, even if it is just sharing a ScenProc script or advice on how to create custom objects in modeling programs and then converting them to a format usable in the flight simulator.

We already have highly detailed terrain mesh for the entire United States as well as road and hydro scenery and many millions of building footprints. I can make ortho scenery (for the U.S.) fairly easily and can do quite a bit with shapefiles and vectors to make things look pretty good, but it would be great to have some expertise where the buildings and vegetation varied somewhat... Like a variety of conifers looks great in a northern California forest, but a desert can begin abruptly on the other side of a mountain and 100-foot pines can look very out-of-place. Or taller buildings in cities, and XML excludes for wonky buildings and bridges that come with the sim. We can currently do several things OK, but the videos would be pretty stunning if a few people that knew how to do certain things very well could contribute.

Trying to remove the ugly massive buildings P3D placed near Carson City, Nevada and South Lake Tahoe, Calif. for an upcoming video (channel is https://rumble.com/c/c-695053 but the videos are still in the "beta" phase). My vision is to have a freeware patch that accompanies the videos so members of the flight sim community that can't devote years learning how to tinker with scenery design can enjoy some of what they see on their own system.

If someone who knows how is interested in teaming up and helping excluding those, that would be spectacular.
