MDL Tweaker Objects in FSX?

Arno,

are there any known limitations for tweaked objects in FSX? I exported a sign with 2004SDK (GMax) and tweaked it with Wind heading. I came across some problems though:

1. I cannot assign a value greater than 32767. I guess that value is 360 degrees, not 65536, isn't it? Using a higher value makes MDL Tweaker crash.

2. The objects seem not to be displayed correctly. Wind rotation works well, no problems with my windsocks, but the signs are not visible as expected. Sometimes I see them, sometimes not, even if I do not change wind directions.

Finally: Is there a way to tweak MAX-models?

Hi Thorsten,

1. I cannot assign a value greater than 32767. I guess that value is 360 degrees, not 65536, isn't it? Using a higher value makes MDL Tweaker crash.
I think the MDL Tweaker GUI at the moment only allows you values between -180 and 180 degrees (so -32767 and 32768). That is more a GUI limitation. But if you define your angles in that range it should work.

2. The objects seem not to be displayed correctly. Wind rotation works well, no problems with my windsocks, but the signs are not visible as expected. Sometimes I see them, sometimes not, even if I do not change wind directions.
Any other conditions added? If you have a gap in your conditions it could be that that causes the object to disappear for a while. Maybe you can show the condition(s) you used?

Finally: Is there a way to tweak MAX-models?
If you export them to the FS2004 MDL format MDL Tweaker should still be able to process them. For the FSX format no tweaking can be done.

Thanks Arno. -32767 to 32767 did the trick. :)

It's cool to finally see wind rotated objects back in FS.
