I never understood those arguments, if you're a developer = Dev license, if you're a simmer (vast vast majority of if you're an aviation student or a moral cheapskate = Academic license....

Don't tell the people at AVSIM that though. Otherwise we'd end up with a flood of "Why don't you make this aircraft/scenery" posts

Microsoft as franchiser of both ESP and FSX/Flight might suggest that Lockheed Martin release Academic Licences only to academic institutions. This could increase Microsoft's own franchise revenue from FSX/Flight franchise by boosting its sales.
