• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.

It is a fantastic job.
Would you mind showing us the frame rate?
I'm making Bangkok too. I still don't know if ground poly can be done in such a vast area.

Hi, frame rate is not affected by buildings, but is affected by ground poly.

When you load the scenery the simulator freeze for 5-6 seconds, during this time fps drop below 10, the simulator is not reactive and you can see the ground polys gray during texture loading.

after the texture are loaded fps are back to normality and stay at 30-35.

I've to test some tweaks for this issue, like a reduced definition for every ground texture, or diminishing the quantity of ground texture. now they are in DXT1 with no mipmaps, but I will try different combination to speed up the ground loading.

Thanks for the reply.

Could you tell me how many ground poly that you have? How many tiles of1024X1024 ground polys that you use? And the area that you cover rougly in square kilometer or miles.

Around 400 ground poly, Every Ground Poly is composed of 9 tiles, only few are composed of 6 tiles each

In all a total of 3599 tiles, a 61*59 grid. every tile is 214*214 meters wide, and use a 256pixel x 256pixel texture, so, more than 1 pixel per meter.

Total area covered is 12,6 km * 13 km = 164.8 km^2

Simply crazy.... :D

p.s. at this time I have completed 810 tiles ( 90 ground poly, i call them "sectors" )

Cheers
