• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Military Themes in Flight Simulation

Hello.

I just wanted to ask, without any obligation, what the situation is with military themes in a civilian flight simulator. Is there any interest in this, such as a military marshaller or RBF personnel?

I know that Microsoft was restrictive in the past in MSFS when it came to weapon systems on ships, aircraft, etc. However, I think I read somewhere that they have relaxed these restrictions.
Therefore, the question is whether it's worthwhile to develop something like a marketable product in this area. I would be interested in different opinions and perspectives :)

I think there is a very high interest in military aircraft and airfields for MSFS and MSFS 2024, and I am trying to learn scenery development so I can add airbases to the sim. Any restrictions imposed by Microsoft, which are functional weapons, only applies to content sold on the in-sim marketplace. This restriction does not apply to any addons sold on third-party marketplaces such as Simmarket, ORBX Direct, etc..

Hello,
Our SwissMilSim team is very interested in having an addon like TacPack for MSFS 2024, as our goal is to revive historical Swiss military aviation, and armament is part of that (even if it's used only for training purposes).

My primary focus was on personnel on military bases. What strikes me, however, is that there are hardly any, if any, payware airports in Flight Simulator used solely by the military. Most of them are military airports based on freeware.
Is there any reason for this?

What kind of TacPack is that, what does it look like, and what do you need it for? I come from a civil aviation background and am not particularly familiar with these terms :)

Oh, you meant weapons systems. I'm out of that, because I don't know anything about it. Although, I might still be interested in a Taurus cruise missile ;)

Beale AFB by Blackbird Simulations has animated military personnel on the flightline and in the tower, but I agree, I would love to see more bases in MSFS. It would also be great to have a military counterpart to GSX

Yes, why not something like a military GSX? Just today, I read in the MSFS24 SDK that there are already plans to use military "stuff."
At first, though, I thought of something simpler. A few days ago, I programmed animated ground crew for a colleague. It's certainly not a perfect masterpiece, but it shows what's possible:

If you integrate the ground crew into a WorldScript or a WASM animation controller, you can definitely do some great things. If anyone knows anything about it, you could consider turning it into a project.
