• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

I am new to 3D Modeling and have the authors permission to his 3D people
for an FSX scenery project.
I download the Model in .skp fornat into shetchup and then export it in
.dae format into ModelConvtX. It appears to load then on close inspection
parts of the model are transparent and i can see inside the model.
I have tried
1. Reversing the faces in the area where the problem appears to be.
2. deleting the edges and using the line tool to create new faces

I have read all the posts I could find on using sketchup 7
and must admit, I'm at my wits end. Could someone please help.

Mike

This seems to be a mirror texture problem try exporting with mirror textures box ticked. Or you may have to re texture it yourself to fix the problem.

Hi,

If you think it is a problem in ModelConverterX, please sent me the model for debug so that I can try to fix it.

Hello, i have the same problem.
Where is "mirror texture option" please ??

Thanks.

1. File > Export > 3D Model…
2. Then click “Options…” on the bottom right
3. Tick the box that says “Export Two-Sided Faces”

If this doesn’t work, you will have to re-texture the whole model.

Ok, thanks. Don't work.

Arno, i send you via mail the sketchup file. I'm Gerardo Garcia from Spain.
The sketchup file is the Museum of Science, in "City of Arts" from Valencia-Spain.

You remember me?

Thanks.
Gerard.

Hi Gerard,

Yes, I got that one. But I also emailed you back that I could not open the SKP file since it got corrupted. Maybe you can try to ZIP it and send it again? Then I can see where it goes wrong in the conversion.

Got it, I will take a look.

Hi,

I can confirm there is indeed a bug in ModelConverterX somewhere, your model has some polygons that get flipped while importing.

Hi,
It is happening with all models. Thanks for your check. Do you think can be solved in a future release of MCX ?

Hi,

I have fixed the bug in ModelConverterX. If you download the latest development release tomorrow you should be able to convert the object correctly.

Wowsers! That is certainly unique archetecture, and very nicely modeled! Bravo Zulu, sir! :coffee:

Hi Gerard,

That's a very nice looking scenery, good work! Reminds me of my vacation in Valencia last year, we stayed in a hotel a few hundred meters from those buildings.

Models still corrupted

Firstly I must apologise for my absence a trip to hospital took me away from trying to create the models. I have now made road train base models from scratch with sketchup7. I upgraded MCX to Dev Version 589. I still have the same problem. They appear Ok in MCX and Instant Scenery. When I restart FSX many parts of the models are missing. I sent the Bgl file to a friend and he experienced the same problem Could someone please assist.

Mike

Hi,

Can you send me the file for testing maybe? If it appears fine in MCX and Instant Scenery it could be a missing texture issue.

Arno,

Have sent you an email and link to the Road Train.zip file

Many thanks, your advice would be appreciated.
