• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

FS2004 Model Shadow wrong

Hi Arno,

I created a FS2004 aircraft mdl for AI Ship traffic and got a problem with the aircraft shadow.
The invisible underwater ship creates an unwanted shadow.

I wonder what you want to do.
Just don't want to have a whole shadow?

If same as a process making FS2004 planes using BGLC_9.exe
It's possible not to have a whole shadow.
But only the part of the shadow will be not simple.

One suggestion is make the under water part a bit transparent.
If Opactity is not 100 I mean 99 , won't make a shadow.
So at this case I think only the part above will make a shadow.

But only the part of the shadow will be not simple.
Hi Hiroshi,
the ship is created by Blender and imported to MCX, modified and exported to FS2004 aircraft model.
Then I created an AI Ship using this model.

Perhaps it is easier to cut all of the underwater part.
Great, the Master of AI Ships answered, thanks a lot

Have a try by making the under water part Opacity 99% may work.
I use those at self illumination parts so that those won't make shadows.

That would be easier if the underwater part has its own material of course.

perhaps I get an "over water dae" from the Blender artist or I have to study Sketchup a little more how to work with section planes.
I am sure there is always a workaround.

Thanks a lot for your advices, I will report
