• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi all guys,
I've already tried to look for this kind of "problem" but I didn't manage to find a thread about this.

I'm just getting into modelling and animation for P3D v4.4 and I use Blender 2.82 with MCX 1.4.0. I already managed to put 3d object into already existing planes butI got some question with no answer:
1)Which are the most suitable format to export from blender to MCX? I found out thath .obj work the best for me but doesn't export the animations.
2)Even if I assign a material to an objext in Blender when I import the .obj into MCX, opening the material editor it says "color FFCCCCCC" and I need to link manually the textures with every piece. Which is the right process of doing it?
3)I found that it's possible to create animations directly in MCX, but I got no idea how to "link" that animation to a trigger.. like if I press Shift+E the door has to open... Since I put on an helicopter a sling system, I was able to animate the hook but the black wire doesn't deploy at all any help?
4) Can I animate the model in Blender and then export directly model+animation into MCX? If yes which is the correct format? I can export in .dae .obj .fbx .abc .usd/usdc/usda .ply .stl .glb/gltf .x3d

I have installed also 3ds MAX but I can't figure out how to model with it, even if I set animation with 3ds and export in .x P3D v4 in MCX it says " XReader Warning Could not find linked animation for Plane" and animations don't show.

Hello...

To answer questions 1 and 4,... I believe the best export format would be .fbx, though I'm not sure if MCX has the .fbx with animations yet? To answer question 3, Until MCX can do animations for .fbx format you will have to manually place them with MCX. So, the answer would be, "yes, animations can be placed manually with MCX (unfortunately, I can't go any further on the "how". "Sorry," about that.)

To question 2: Sounds like you have placed the material but not the texture. How are you placing the texture within Blender? Are you UV mapping it correctly?

First of all thanks for your reply. It's much appreciated.

I did the 3d model and then UV unwrapped although th UV is a mess to understand(I tried every blender method, the smart UV project seems the work the best) then giving the color to materials and finally baking the textures(combined type) over UV. I don't know if it's correct this last step.
Anyway textures work since if I painting them I view correct colors in MCX

Sorry for the long delay...

If the colors (by painting the UV map) are showing up in MCX, then you have done it correctly.

I tried to UV unwrapp with 3ds since the UV layout of blender was hard to understand. But now I got texture stretch near the edges(it's an external fuel tank) and I can't find a way to fix it
