• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS - Does MSFS generated AI traffic work at a user created airport

Just wondering if MSFS generated airport traffic 'populates' AI traffic at user created airports and modified (water) airports which add dock parking to stock MSFS airports which only had water runway start positions.

I have both and can't see any floatplanes or leisure boats or ships & ferries even though I have 'traffic' set up for 100 density for aircraft and boats/ships. All I see are cars etc on the roads.

MSFS uses traffic plans that are written to and from specific ICAO for airplanes and GPS coord for SimObject ships. If those locations exist in default, the traffic will transfer, if they do not, you have to populate the location with AI routes.

Thanks Rick. But what do I use to create AI routes for MSFS? In FSX I successfully used AIFP which worked well but don't think it does with MSFS.

I feel that the problem I have is the use of water airports.

I have successfully created flight plans using AIFP which work using user created L:AND airports but flight plans from WATER airports both ones I have created and ones I have downloaded which others have created, do NOT display AI aircraft departing.

I will assume I am correct unless someone can tell me that they have a working flight plan to and from a WATER airport.
