• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS not listing BGL after build

Gentlemen, I have hit a brick wall. After the help several of you offered me advice, I managed to build and export a Blender object. Now, however, when I build the project in the Project Editor, it is not listed in the Objects Editor. The BGL is in the Packages/Scenery folder. I can open it in MyConverterX, just fine. I did the exit MSFS and then reloading the package routine. After reloading the project, I still don't see the hanger.

I have attached a zip of the project folders. Maybe one of you can help?

Thanks,

John

Edit: file is too large. I will try and load it as two files.

Hi John

...are you searching you model with the right name?

because the name in the game is the name of the .xml, so....Collection

the project is missing a texture (
metal_0024_roughness_2k.png) so the pink in the model

(and make sure you use proper comp -occlusion roughness metal - textures to avoid un wanted shading issues)

link to the project compiled (and correctly configured)

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I will use your klch.zip as my template.

"...are you searching you model with the right name?

I have searched using "Collection" and "FBO_Hanger2" Blender always gives it the name Collection, even if I change it. It seems that I can change the name of the gtif file, but the either the bin or xml must be Collection. Frankly, I don't understand this and don't know enough to even research why. Now that I have your template, I will explore the naming conventions.

"the project is missing a texture (
metal_0024_roughness_2k.png) so the pink in the model"
This one I don't understand. The texture is in the texture folder and it came directly from a site that provides downloads of PBR textures. I can get rid of it. Since this will be a "simple put buildings where MS didn't" I don't think I need complete PBR textures. I am just trying to make the airport more realistic and 3D.

and make sure you use proper comp -occlusion roughness metal - textures to avoid un wanted shading issues This I don't understand. However, after I am able to export Blender models into MSFS correctly, I plan on looking into texturing more fully.
