• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Need help extracting XML from SPB with FSX (I only have MSFS which won't work)

Thank you for your time.
I have a SPB file with a flight plan. Inside the SPB file is a complex XML file with the airport and waypoints all listed.
I cannot extract the XML file because I'm using the MSFS version. If you are using the Steam FSX version, it is possible.
Are you able to extract the file? I can WeTransfer the SPB file!
Please let me know.
Many thanks.
Anthony

I heard they've now encrypted the propdefs in the Steam version as well. Pretty dumb given how important they are to developers. I too would like this funtionality. I hope they figure out a way to protect people's content but still give us access to the base propdefs....

However, have you tried unpacking it using the FSX propdefs? Maybe you'll get what you're looking for in the Approaches and other airport data? Does the current ADE have a facility to read your spb data built in?

Thank you for your thoughts. Yes, I agree it is a shame it isn't available but yes it will could return. I will check out the ADE and see if that can give me what I need. Many thanks!

BTW, somewhere I said that Spb tool worked with MSFS... I read somewhere else that that used to be the case, but the spb format has been updated since and they've added bits in the header that make the SPB tool to choke... oh well.
