• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.

New version of FSX Planner available (May 13th)

I have released a new version of FSX Planner. It is available here: http://www.zbluesoftware.com/clients/FSXPlanner.zip

These are the updates for this version:
* Added error check for duplicate jetways
* The Vasi tab of the runway properties display is now working. You can edit the primary and secondary vasi and approach lights for the runway now.
* Fixed bug where latitude/longitude points were displayed and/or saved using commas instead of decimal points.
* Communication frequencies can now be displayed and modified by selecting Navigation -> COMs.
* Save As option now asks for permission to over-write an existing file.
* Save As option now opens the file chooser in the same directory as the file that was opened.
* Within the Taxiway Path properties display, the Number, Designator and Name options are now enabled or disabled based upon the currently selected taxiway Type.
* Added error check for taxiway paths associated with non-existant runways added.
* Added error check for taxiway paths that do not have runways or designators assigned to them where appropriate.
* Added error check for runways with incorrectly set up designators.
* Improved the drawing of taxiways so that the left and right edge lines intersect properly.

Thanks again for everyone's help and enthusiasm. FSX Planner is nearing completion!
 
Taxiway points

If I add a Taxi way point to a taxyway or runway it doesn't snap to the taxi way or runway, the work around appears to be to put taxiway pionts in first then the runway Or taxiways.
 
I somehow can't open a self generated(BGL2XML) .XML file.
The le gaurdia does open.

Looks good by the way.

I want it to give a go at my own home town airport being EHRD.
So i did a search and found it in the file APX46130.bgl in the 0501 map. This i converted with your BGL2XML. But it says that there are more then one airports in that particular file. Is that allright?

And when I open the APX46130.XML generated by your BGL2XML, FSXplannner stays empty. As if i didnt open anything.
 
There will be a lot of airports in that file. You would need to find the xml for the airport you want to load - I do not think FSX Planner will much like multiple airports. If you do not want to do it by hand then you could used SDE TestApp and choose Open Airport. You can then select the airport you want from the tree and you should be able to save the xml so it can be put into FSX Planner.

Alternatively I did it for you

I'm not totally sure what you mean by 'it doesn't snap to the taxiway'.

This is what I think you mean:
1) You have two taxiway points with a taxiway between them
2) You want to add a new point on that same taxiway, but between the two existing taxiway points.
3) You want to do this by clicking on the taxiway at the point you want to add the new taxiway point.

Is that correct?

If so then you are correct is what you said above.

Jon is correct in that there will be multiple airports in the xml file that you generated. FSX Planner can have multiple airports open at once. However I haven't yet implemented the functionality to open an xml file that contains multiple airports, such as the one you have. This will be coming in the next release though.

So for now you would have to save the xml file with just one airport.
 
As it still is a Beta version you probably want some feedback. I know that you can't criticize freeware but mayby this helps.

I miss the short-cut keys.
Even DEL doesn't work and also CRTL-C and al that stuff.

The apron move at the center point of the apron.
When you move them it centers it self around the mouse. Thats pretty dificult if you move them. Also when you unintensionally klik on them they move out of place.

De taxiway remain as one type.
for instants when i want to extend a vihicle path i first get some taxiways that i have to modify. Also when you modify the type it automaticly names it the fist name in the list.

In general it looks very good.

Agreed - we will add ctrl-x, etc.

I just downloaded the update and installed it. Placing the runway center line now works. I placed one GA Park with the taxiway and the details(Oily spot) nor the center line stripe shows. It is connected to the runway with a hold short and I have show details checked and the centerline checked.
I also placed a 10 foot vehicle traffic spot and 15 foot wide path with several nodes and pathes.... the fuel truck don't move.
I have another item.... having a BF and can't remember what it is right now... I'll post it when I think of it.

Checking the taxiway paths...... i saved the XML and looked at it in XMLNotepad and it showed all the taxiways including the runway.
I compiled it from the xml in FSXPlanner and used Scruffys BGL2XML and only one taxiway was there. That one was the runway. I'm not sure what is happening with this but the center lines and oily spots nor the hold short don't show on the apron, the parks don't show on the apron either. My traffic path has the fuel truck showing but it doesn't move.
Edit:
Just found that the Vehicle parking path is not showing either. You can't edit any of the parking pathes to change the attributes .. you can the centerline but it doesn't show.

Well..... It seems that somehow that xml got currupted. I went back to the one before I added the taxiways and added them to that one. They show and you can edit them but the center line still doesnt show. That apron I added with the first version of FSXPlanner and that may be bad as well. I wish there was a way to just post a link to the xml instead of posting the whole thing as text.

I would only make a little suggestion:

Could you create a number for the versions' build?

I would like to maintain the before version working and the build number would help me to follow the sequence.
