• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Question: How will the removal of the Blender Internal render engine affect the communities "Blender2FSX/P3D" export scripts?

Hi Ronald!

Rendering simply gives to numbers a visual meaning; if nothing escapes from this idea, they are up to something better! Perhaps I am misunderstanding you and you are referencing to something else; regarding completely to the way Blender handles the overall texture procedures and the final result in the Simulator. In any event, I am sure they will document everything and you will find very nice features.

Take care and looking forward to see more of your projects!
Sergio.

Yes... it's called EEVEE... this will take the place of Blender Render. There had been talk about this for a couple years now... concerning the Toolset... nothing will be known until v2.80 is released, which, according to Blender Foundation... maybe by July or August 2018. Don't worry about it at this time... all previous versions will still be available.. Hold on to latest version 2.79b (April 2018).

I use Blender to bake textures for most game content but I bake in the Cycles render engine which I think will remain in Blender 2.8 (at least for now).

I have baked textures within Blender, but I find it easier when,... such as for AO maps to create them and then place them in a layer through a Photo Editor. Gives me more control when adding them to the diffuse map or any mapped texture.

Hi Ronald!

If Blender's internal render engine is not used when the Blender2FSX/P3D export script is executed, then you will get an error and no export .x, .xanim, or .mdl file will be made. The reason for this is because of the differences in the way that Blender Internal Render, EVEE, and Cycles Render Engine associates a material to a mesh.

(This is just my opinion: Unless Blender is still writing code for the EVEE Engine and they are going to bring back the functions that the internal Render Engine used to associate information between data. Which I do not think is going to happen. I do not see the Tool-set working with Blender versions past 2.79b unless someone rewrites the export script to work with the new Render Engines.)

Thanks, Kris
