FSXA Normal Map Creation

Hello Arno,..

On the Normal map Creation on textures: Do we have to convert the Texture in a Black and White (grayscale) format prior to converting?


Just wondering, Since I wasn't able to locate anything on this in the MCX manual online.

Hi,

You mean the function in the texture converter to make normal maps? It takes a texture made with a normalmap plugin (for GIMP, PhotoShop, etc) as input and converts it to the FS style normalmap.

yes, sorry about the confusion... ok so it does require some work then prior to converting...

Yes, but with those standard plugins that is quite easy. The task ModelConverterX can do is help with the FSX specific requirements after you have made a normal normalmap.
