• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Now you can build 3d models inside FSX!

Looks nice indeed. But I think I still prefer to have a real 3d modelling tool where I have full control over all vertices and material settings.

And for twenty sterling I thought I'd try it.
I am not impressed with the licensing. It has now been deleted.

Which aspect of the licensing?

I imagined it was the usual Flight1 wrapper, somewhat the same as that used for Instant Scenery 2 (et al).

.. or is there some other aspect of the license that you were concerned about ?

Thats usually just to activate it the first time, isn't it. Like AFX and Instant Scenery.

Or have they become super-zealous with copy protection all of a sudden.

It looks like a great tool, but having worked out how to use Max/Gmax I think I'll pass. ;)

Yes, just for activation, but since I need it on my backup desktop and laptop, we're now talking sixty sterling. That's a bit steep.

I liked it for the ability to do it within fsx. No more compile, load, nudge, reload, nudge, reload - ad nauseum.

You can install the software on up to 3 PCs, I thought that was always the case with Flight1.

Just a thought, if you are in fsx and running this at the same time, wouldn't it be even more ram being used.

While you are working, of course! However, once done the scenery will be loaded and displayed just like any other scenery. It can even be distributed to others who don't have this program... :D

I only would be interested in this program to place fences and object like that that must follow the terrain, just for that duty.

Hi Chris,
Do you or does anybody else know already if this tool creates drawcall optimized objects? Or will we encounter fps issues after putting lets say 3 IOS-objects in one airport?

How about your wheel chocks - do they work :)

Thanks for letting us know, Frits!

I haven't checked the tool yet. But in most cases it is up to the developer if he makes optimized objects or not. It is the developer that chooses how many materials to use. But some tools make it easier than others to make optimized models, that's true.

It's only a matter of time before someone uses MCX to "decompile" a .bgl and take a look, eh? :p

I'm tempted to buy it and have a look. The video looks nice, but they use a lot of generic textures. If you use one photo realistic texture, the texture mapping would be more work, but you have one drawcall. Would like to see how that works.

I also wonder if you can open the object later to make changes. If you only save to bgl that might be hard.

So enough to try..

I don't think a couple of chocks will make any difference to the fps. (Which, by the way, is overated. 24fps is the standard for cinematic film as flicker is only noticable below 16fps. People with their fps set higher are wasting their gpu's time.)

I think someone around here made a tool that can do that sort of thing ....
