• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Object texture problem exporting from 3ds Max

Sorry if this has been covered somewhere

Hi everyone,

I have an issue I have been struggling with for a few days now. Basically when I generate a basic object in 3ds Max and then apply a UVW texture to one of the faces everything seems ok. I render in 3ds and all looks ok.

I then export the .mdl and drop it into (Airport Design Editor) compile and load P3D.

When i hover over the object in P3Dv4 the model looks perfectly fine but the image on the face is a different part of the UVW map and not what I have selected? What could I be doing wrong?

Is there a better way to texture the 3ds model other than using the material editor? I have used the p3d modifier also in 3ds Max.

Have you converted the texture to .DDS with ImageTool, or did you just export the texture from (say) Photoshop as .DDS via nVidia plugin without flipping vertically?

I have managed to fix it somehow :)

It must of been a problem with the workflow somewhere. One final issue remains. When placing a plane over a taxi way in ADE at a certain angle the plane disappears any ideas on that one?

Birds eye view is perfect but cockpit view it disappears. Could it be the z axis?
